Early Evaluation of 2004 Agricultural Retailer Incentive Programs Provided by Crop Protection Manufacturers

Purpose - to provide pre-season review and initial reaction to 2005
incentive programs provided by crop protection manufacturers.
Channel perception rated and ranked by retailers across the U.S. as
well as reaction to timing and amount of 2004 incentive payments relative
to expectations.
Objectives - key goals for this study are to determine and provide:
- Program ratings for 2005 programs on key performance measures by manufacturer and comparison to 2004 offering.
- Key perceived changes in, and likes and dislikes regarding 2005 programs.
- Approximate dollar volume sales by manufacturer for 2004 and estimated percent changes in sales by manufacturer for 2005.
- Timing of receipt of 2004 incentive payment by manufacturer relative to expected payment date.
- Satisfaction levels with 2004 incentive payment amounts relative to expectations.
Target market - ag retailers in the U.S. selling crop protection products.
Timing - data will be collected during January and February of 2005, with a
final report delivered by March 1, 2005.
Methodology - a questionnaire will be mailed to ag retailers throughout
the U.S. who are members of the Doane Ag Services Ag Retailer
Research Panel. Four hundred returns are anticipated with a goal of
50% from the Midwest, 25% from the southern states and 25% from the
balance of the U.S. Responding retailers will be offered an incentive
for their cooperation.
Deliverables - a final report containing the graphical report, verbatim
comments and data tabulations will be delivered in electronic format
and two hard copies will be shipped.
