Introduction

Doane Advisory Services' mission is built upon the legacy of the Founder D. Howard Doane, whose unwavering vision of a more efficient, product agriculture, with its strength lying more in people than in the land. Doane Advisory Services is a company committed to providing sound information and analysis. We provide the tools needed to make smart decisions by incorporating critical signals from the marketplace, from Washington, and from experts who know the complicated business of agricultural production, distribution, and marketing.

Maintaining your trust is important as protecting your privacy. For example, if we share your information with third parties it is with your consent or as required by law. Our Privacy policy applies to our users as well as anyone visiting the site. We collect your information when you use our site in order to tailor and personalize your experience.

When We Collect Information

There is a few different ways in which we collect your personal information:

Registration

To create an account on the Doane website you must provide your email address, a password and your full name. You also must accept Doane Advisory Services Terms & Conditions. Once your account is created you will be asked to provide additional optional details such as your city, state, gender, birthday, education, & occupation. You understand that by creating an account, we and others on the Doane Advisory Services website will be able to see your information and identify you by your community profile.

Profile Information

After creating an account you can choose to provide additional information for your profile such as agricultural interests, farming activities, hobbies, in addition to the other information listed above in the registration section. Providing additional information allows you to have a customized experience, allowing us to serve you ads and other content that is relevant to you.

Customer Service

When you contact our support services via our Help page, we may have to access your messages, groups, or other content that you’ve posted on the website. We collect information needed to track potential problems, trends and to enhance the user experience on the website. If there’s a problem that you’ve reported, then the information we’ve collected will give us the necessary tools needed to investigate the problem, and find the appropriate solution for the situation.

Using the Doane Advisory Services Website and Applications

We collect information for both visitors and members when you use the following services: our website, our platform technology such as sharing on Facebook, or Twitter and when you access our other services such as the economist’s advice and analysis. Some examples of how we collect your information are when you perform a search, participate in surveys, click on any ads.

How We Use Your Personal Information

The personal information you provide on your profile can be seen by others on the website, including your name and profile picture. By providing personal information to us when you create a profile or update your account, you agree to the terms of the Privacy Policy and the Terms & Conditions, in doing so you are giving us consent to collect and process your personal information in the ways stated in this Privacy Policy. Supplying to us any information deemed “sensitive” by applicable law is entirely voluntary of your part. You can choose to modify or withdraw your consent at any time, in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy and the Terms & Conditions, by changing your profile account settings on the Doane Advisory Services website, or by deleting your Doane Advisory Services account. 

Communications on the Doane Advisory Services Website

We communicate with you through email and announcements posted on the site. Some examples of these communications include: receiving welcome and engagement communications, new features and service updates, promotional communications, and service communications such as: availability, security and other issues regarding the functioning of our services, emails notifying you of certain interactions within the community.  Some examples of community interactions are being notified if someone comments on a picture you posted or if someone requested to connect within the community. To change your email notifications regarding community interactions visit the settings page, and update your preferences accordingly. While you can opt out of certain community interactions emails, be aware that you cannot opt out of receiving transactional emails from us.

Service Development

We use the information and content that you and other members have provided us to develop and improve our services. We customize your experience and that of others using our services. For example, in the “people you may know” widget, we show members you may know based on people you’ve connected with already within the community.

Search Feature

You can search for members, articles and reports. We use information from our services, including member profiles, group’s content and proprietary information from the economist’s advice and analysis, to inform and refine our search service. 

Groups

If you choose to participate in (e.g. uploading photos or posting an update) or become a member of a group, you should be aware that any information you choose to disclosein the group can be read, collected, and used by other members in these forums. We are not responsible for the information you choose to submit in these forums. We do not monitor groups but may remove content if in our discretion we believe it violates Doane Advisory Services' Terms & Conditions. You can remove your group’s posts at any time, however others may have copied or used the information that you’ve shared.

How We Use Cookies and Other Technologies

“Cookies” are small files placed on a device when is visits a website to facilitate the use of that website or access online content. When you visit our Services, we may place “cookies” on your computer. We use Cookies for many purposes, including, without limitation, remembering preferences and tracking visits to our pages for purposes of facilitating and maintaining your current user session.

Social Networks and Information Sharing

You can also engage with our community on or through third-party social media sites, plug-ins and applications, (collectively Social Networks) such as those offered by Facebook, Twitter, and others. If you log onto Social Network sites from the Service, the Social Network's privacy policy governs your use of the Social Network.

In certain instances, you may have the ability to link your account with us to third party Social Networks. When you link your account or engage with our content on or through third party Social Networks, services, plug-ins, or applications, you allow us to have ongoing access to certain information from your Social Network account (e.g., name, e-mail address, profile photo, gender, birthday, location, your list of friends and their contact information, people you follow and/or who follow you, the posts or the 'likes' you make). We may also receive other information (e.g., content viewed, game performance, high scores, and information about advertisements within the content you have been shown or may have clicked on, etc.) from your Social Network interaction with our content.


By sharing or posting content from the Service to a Social Network site, or by linking your Social Network account with your Doane Community account, you consent to our collection and use of your Social Network information that you have made available to be shared. 

Third Party Ad Servers.

We may use third-party ad servers to serve ads that may interest you.  These third-party ad-servers may automatically collect information about your visit to our websites and to other websites. They do this by using Cookies, Web Beacons and other technologies. The information ad servers collect may be used, among other things, to deliver advertising targeted to your interests and to better understand the usage of the Services and visits to the Sites and the other websites tracked by these third parties. Third-party ad servers may collect and use Personal Information from other sources as part of their ad serving.

Your Rights
Rights to Access, Correct, or Delete Your Information, and Closing Your Account

You have a right to do the following: access, modify, update, or delete your personal information controlled by the Doane Advisory Services regarding your profile, change or remove content that’s been posted and have access to delete your account. Should you choose to delete your account, then your information will generally be removed from the Doane Advisory Services website promptly, however there may be back up copies of your information that cannot be removed; other people may have seen and saved your information prior to your removal from the Doane Advisory Services website.

Your California Privacy Rights

California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of Personal Information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, please contact us through [INSERT CONTACT]. Please allow 30 days for us to respond to any such request.

We do not collect Personal Information about a consumer’s online activities over time and across third-party websites or online services as a Third-Party Ad Server.  Therefore, “do not track” signals transmitted from web browsers do not apply to the Sites, and we do not alter any of our data collection and use practices upon receipt of such a signal.  Where a user or web browser transmits a “do not track” signal, third parties that place cookies and collect information on the Sites will be able to see that such a signal has been transmitted.

Minimum Age

If you are under 18, you may use the Doane Advisory Services website only with the permission of a parent or guardian.

Changing the Privacy Policy

There may be a time where we change your Privacy Policy. If we make any significant changes to the way we handle your personal information or to the overall Privacy Policy, then we will give you a notice by announcing it on the community and/or by sending you an email about it. Please review any of the changes.  If there is a material change in our use of previously collected personal information, we will get your consent to that revised use prior to the implementation of the use.

 By continuing to use our services, it means that you accept and agree to the changes that were made. However, if you don’t agree with the changes, and no longer wish to be a part of the community, then you can opt to delete your account. Unless otherwise stated, our current Privacy Policy applies to all information that we have about you and your account.
