Watch Cercospora Leafspot In Sugarbeets

Cercospora is generally more severe than it has been over the past 10 years

  1. Daily infection values (DIV's) levels have been high

  2. Infection occurred earlier this year

  3. Disease levels are higher in the south and lessen as you go north

  4. Most fields have some disease and some fields are "pretty hot"

Here are some tips for the rest of the year:

  1. Apply Headline 30 to 45 days before harvest for plant health and to reduce frost susceptibility

  2. Closely monitor your fields

  3. Don't stretch intervals between fungicide applications

  4. Watch the infection values

  5. Don't let the disease build up in September

    1. Use as many sprays as necessary to protect the crop

  6. Watch the pre-harvest intervals (PHI's)
